ATI cost reductions to continue in 2014

NEW YORK — The closure of Allegheny Technologies Inc.’s (ATI’s) cold-rolled stainless strip finishing plant in Wallingford, Conn., next year is part of planned cost reductions that will continue next year, an ATI spokesman told AMM.

ATI is due to close the facility by around June 30 due to "poor economic conditions," the Pittsburgh-based steelmaker said in a Dec. 13 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (amm.com, Dec. 13). The closure affects Brackenridge, Pa.-based specialty steel and alloy production unit ATI Allegheny Ludlum.....
