Horsehead readies NC zinc facility

NEW YORK Horsehead Holding Corp. has started the commissioning process at its new zinc production plant in Mooresboro, N.C., while also setting up a zinc recycling joint venture with Imperial Zinc Corp.
Horsehead started the heat-up cycle required to commission the induction melting furnace at the Mooresboro site, with the furnace expected to be ready for production by the end of January, it said Dec. 30.
"We expect the cell house to be ready to produce first zinc cathode to feed the melting facility shortly after the furnace is fully commissioned. Start-up of the lead circuit is still expected by the end of the second quarter of 2014," the company said.....
