Nucor makes first DRI shipment from La. plant

NEW YORK Nucor Corp. made the first shipment of direct-reduced iron (DRI) from its 2.5-million-ton facility in St. James Parish, La., on Dec. 29, a company spokeswoman told AMM in an e-mail.
DRI produced at the Louisiana facility, together with the production from our DRI plant in Trinidad, gets the company about two-thirds of the way to our goal of producing 6 (million) to 7 million tons of high quality scrap substitutes. Producing more DRI will give us tremendous flexibility to respond to....
