US transportation routes see major activity: officials

CHICAGO U.S. national and international transportation routes saw increased cargoes, port expansions, and new safety and environmental programs during 2013, federal agencies said in their annual reviews.
The navigation season has ended on the St. Lawrence Seaway, but the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corp. will continue to perform repair, maintenance and upgrade work this winter, administrator Betty Sutton said.....
