NEW YORK Discounts for copper scrap widened by a penny across the board Jan. 2, as sellers said tepid trading activity and a slight uptick in supply were compelling buyers to lower quotes.
Several sources noted that most participants were still operating on reduced hours and staff. "All the buyers I deal with are still out on vacation," one seller told AMM. "Having to deal with the assistant buyers can be a real headache because they dont have a good idea about accurate pricing. It can really screw with the market.....
