Steel sheet market uncertain in new year

NEW YORK The flat-rolled steel market saw some hesitancy in the first full week of the year, according to buyers and sellers, leaving some wary about the first-quarter outlook.
This follows several months in which higher prices, extended lead times and steady demand left mills, buyers and traders optimistic of a strong market during the period. But strong buying before the last set of mill price increases, combined with little activity over the holiday season and strong imports, has sparked some uncertainty about the markets near-term direction.....
