MUMBAI, India — India’s steel consumption rose slightly in the first nine months of the country’s fiscal year, as higher domestic output offset a slump in imports.

Steel consumption edged up 0.5 percent to 53.78 million tonnes for the April-to-December period, according to the Indian steel ministry’s Joint Plant Committee.....
