Wire rod prices steady as competition looms

NEW YORK U.S. wire rod transaction prices remained unchanged this past week due to steady end-user demand and uncertainty in the global economy, according to market participants.
Producers are competing with lower offers from China and have kept transaction prices unchanged to remain competitive. Mesh-quality wire rod remains at $660 per ton ($33 per hundredweight) f.o.b. mill, although offers have been quoted at $690 per ton ($34.50 per cwt) for February rolling.....
