JCI profits jump 30.6% on auto demand

NEW YORK — Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) posted strong profits in its fiscal first quarter, with higher global automotive industry production and strong demand from China helping to drive net income up 30.6 percent from a year earlier, the company said in a Jan. 23 news release on its website.

The Milwaukee-based automotive supply company’s sales in the three months ended Dec. 31 were up 5 percent compared with a year earlier.....
