Mexico steel hindered by competition

CANCUN, Mexico — The Mexican steel sector has significant growth potential from several strong end markets, but demand could be hindered by growing competition from domestic producers and imports.

"(We) have been adapting to the changing dynamics of supply-demand, which in the past year has been very complicated due to growth at the world level," Luis A. Landois, sales sub-director at integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico SA de CV (Ahmsa), told AMM’s 19th Annual Mexican Steel Forum in Cancun. ....
