NEW YORK — Following a week of intense price volatility, the aluminum scrap market calmed as limited movement on terminal markets coupled with relatively steady Midwest aluminum premiums helped quell price fluctuations, according to market participants.

The primary aluminum cash contract on the London Metal Exchange ended the official session Jan. 28 at $1,713 per tonne (77.7 cents per pound), down 0.8 percent from $1,726.50 per tonne (78.3 cents per pound) at the end....
