AK downplays aluminum use in automotive

NEW YORK AK Steel Corp. believes steel "remains the material of choice for automotive design and utilization" despite Ford Motor Co.s decision to switch its F-150 pickup truck body to aluminum.
AK Steel chairman, president and chief executive James L. Wainscott cited cost, life cycle and environmental concerns as reasons why the company expects automotive demand for steelwhich represents about 50 percent of the West Chester, Ohio-based steelmakers overall businessto remain strong.....
