China PMI falls, clouding post-holiday outlook

SHANGHAI — China’s manufacturing sector slowed further in January, with HSBC Holdings Plc’s China purchasing managers’ index (PMI) falling below the crucial threshold of 50 points for the first time since July 2013.

The bank’s final manufacturing PMI reading for January slid to 49.5 points from December’s final reading of 50.5 points, according to data released Jan. 30.....
