US ferrous scrap export prices to Turkey decline

CANCUN, Mexico — U.S. bulk ferrous scrap export prices fell more than $10 per tonne after an exporter bowed to pressure from a Turkish mill to lower prices.

It was only the second U.S. East Coast bulk sale to Turkey this month, and market participants said the lull in exports to Turkey is likely to continue as the country works to navigate political turmoil that has weakened its currency as well as an overall decline in demand for finished steel products.

The latest bulk sale to Turkey is scheduled for prompt delivery, indicating that Turkish mills may be lean on inventory, several sources said.....
