NEW YORK — High-carbon ferromanganese spot prices have continued to strengthen on the back of a reported tightness in domestic supply and weather-related transport issues.

Spot prices moved up to a range of $1,020 to $1,060 per long ton from $1,000 to $1,020 previously after starting the year with spot deals below the $1,000-per-ton mark.

Sellers had told AMM a week earlier that they were pushing quotes up to $1,050 per ton and beyond on the back of production issues at major sources of high-carbon material (amm.com, Jan. 24). ....
