Scrap export prices fall on weak demand, lira

NEW YORK — Prices for U.S. bulk ferrous scrap shipments to Turkey dropped for the second time in a week as poor demand and a weak Turkish currency continued to affect exporters.

Market participants said exporters sold four bulk cargoes to Turkish mills in the past seven days, with the latest sale reported at prices well below a Jan. 28 prompt cargo sale that was booked at $384 per tonne c.i.f. Turkey for an 80/20 mix of No. 1 and No. 2 heavy melt (amm.com, Jan. 30). ....
