Arch Coal posts 4th qtr. loss on weaker coal pricing

NEW YORK U.S. coal producer Arch Coal Inc. reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $371.2 million due to softer metallurgical and thermal coal pricing compared with the year-ago quarter, Arch Coal president and chief executive officer John W. Eaves said in a conference call with reporters and analysts Feb. 4.
The St. Louis-based companys fourth-quarter results include a $265.4-million non-cash goodwill impairment charge. The net loss compares with a net loss of $295.4 million in the same quarter in 2012.....
