Weather impacts Horsehead’s zinc facility

NEW YORK Horsehead Holding Corp. announced that the commissioning of its zinc production plant in Mooresboro, N.C., is proceeding as planned, although it is experiencing delays due to severe weather conditions and relatively minor equipment debugging issues.
The Pittsburgh-based company has begun introducing zinc feedstock as part of the commissioning process and will charge systems with sulfuric acid over the next seven days, according to Horsehead president and chief executive officer Jim Hensler.....
