Wire rod prices steady on scant demand

NEW YORK U.S. wire rod transaction prices remain unchanged for February rollings due to wintry weather conditions, depressed demand from the construction sector and fierce competition from Chinese imports, market participants told AMM.
"Prices are stable. There has been no movement in the last couple of weeks. Steel is literally not moving in the Midwest. There are trucks that are stuck and cannot move due to the freezing weather," a Midwest distributor source said.....
