Tight supply, winter weather lifts SiMn prices

NEW YORK Silicomanganese spot prices have risen again due to tight supply exacerbated by challenging winter conditions.
Silicomanganese moved up to a range of 58 to 59 cents per pound from 56 to 57 cents previously. With freezing temperatures in the Midwest impacting road, rail and barge traffic, some sellers told AMM they were pushing quotes above 60 cents per pound.
"With all the problems with the rivers, weve heard quotes of up to 65 cents per pound," one trader said. "Were definitely not selling below 60 cents anymore." ....
