NEW YORK — ArcelorMittal SA’s soon-to-be acquired Calvert, Ala., operations will primarily target higher-end markets utilizing advanced high-strength steels, such as automotive and energy, according to one of the steelmaker’s top executives.

"We view the asset as an additive to our existing operations. Clearly, it’s a facility that’s capable of producing and serving very high-end markets ... the principal market targets there are automotive and energy," Louis L. Schorsch, chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal’s Americas division, told analysts during a quarterly earnings conference call Feb. 7. "The facility is a very good one. I think that the people are good ... so we’re very pleased about it and confident we can make it work."....
