Steel slab imports lose ground in December

NEW YORK U.S. steel slab imports fell in December from the previous month, with a drop in shipments to Houston-Galveston, Texas, and the Columbia-Snake customs district only partially offset by higher shipments into Mobile, Ala.
Slab imports totaled 538,345 tonnes in December, down 11.4 percent from 607,630 tonnes in November and 8.3 percent below the 586,839 tonnes imported in December 2012, according to data compiled by AMM from USA Trade Online, part of the U.S. Census Bureaus Foreign Trade division.....
