Some Timet output now pushing through SMC

LOS ANGELES Titanium Metals Corp. (Timet) is beginning to direct some of its production downstream through Special Metals Corp. (SMC), according to the top executive of parent company Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC).
Nickel-alloy producer SMCs Dunkirk, N.Y., operation is in the qualification process to reduce titanium billet made by Timet, PCC chairman and chief executive officer Mark Donegan said in a webcast of Cowen & Co.s 35th Annual Aerospace/Defense Conference and Transportation Conference.
Exton, Pa.-based Timet has been "outsourcing" reduction on a rotary forge machine, he said, without revealing who was performing this role.....
