O’Neal sales people stranded as flights nixed

CHICAGO — Even O’Neal Steel Inc. managers attending a meeting in Florida could not escape the winter weather problems. Seventeen sales managers were stranded in Miami following the meeting because flights to other Southeast cities—if routed through Atlanta—were canceled.

O’Neal, which operates a large family of metal processing and distribution centers across the United States, said warehouses in Birmingham, Ala., and Knoxville, Tenn., closed early Wednesday and opened late Thursday, while the Greensboro, N.C., facility was expected to remain closed all day.
