Zinc’s new galvanized rebar seen lifting coating demand

DANA POINT, Calif. The zinc industry has developed a new galvanized rebar product for concrete bridges and tunnels that has "huge potential" to boost demand for coated products, the International Zinc Association (IZA) executive director Stephen Wilkinson said.
Rebar is currently a 200-million-tonne-per-year market, of which just 20 million tonnes is coated, he said this week at the IZA annual conference in California.....
