PITTSBURGH Steel industry veteran John D. Correnti is making plans to establish an electronics recycling facility near the site of his proposed $1.1-billion Big River Steel LLC project.
BlueOak Resources Inc. will start preliminary organizational work in Osceola, Ark., within the next 60 to 90 days, the Osceola/South Mississippi County Chamber of Commerce said in a statement.
The facility, which will reclaim five types of metals sourced from circuit boards, is expected to create 75 jobs. There are currently only six such facilities globally, none of which are located in the United States, the chamber said.
The construction cost is estimated at $33 million, with the plant to be located on a 30-acre plot, Osceola Mayor Dickie Kennemore was quoted as saying in an Associated Press report.
Correnti, who serves as executive chairman of Burlingame, Calif.-based BlueOak, couldnt be reached for comment.
