Vale’s Totten Mine opens in Ontario’s Sudbury Basin

NEW YORK Vale SA held an opening ceremony Feb. 21 for its Totten nickel-copper mine in Worthington, Ontario, the "first new mine in the Sudbury Basin in more than 40 years," it said in a statement.
The Totten project, which had a $760-million budget and took seven years to complete, is expected to produce up to 2,200 tonnes of copper, nickel and precious metal ore per day over a 20-year period once it ramps up to full....
