Merchant bar mills stick to price hike

NEW YORK Merchant bar mills are sticking to an early February price increase, sources told AMM this past week.
The move comes despite a fall in scrap prices in February (amm.com, Feb. 10) and potential further softness in March, underlining mills previously announced shift away from a scrap surcharge.
"The (mills) are trying to escape the scrap dynamics, and thats whats starting to happen," one West Coast service center source said.....
