Quanex trims loss despite repair costs at Nichols mill

CHICAGO Quanex Building Products Corp.s net loss narrowed in its fiscal first quarter as it prepared to sell its Nichols Aluminum LLC aluminum sheet products subsidiary to Aleris International Inc.
But while Houston-based Quanex trimmed its loss in the three months ended Jan. 31 compared with the same period a year earlier, Nichols operating loss rose 2.4 percent to $4.3 million on sales that fell 6 percent....
