NEW YORK Stainless steel prices have ticked up in March on higher mill surcharges, with market participants speculating that stronger nickel prices and improved demand could lead to a second-quarter base price increase.
Prices for Type 304 coiled plate are $1.18 per pound f.o.b. mill, up from $1.17 last month; 304L coiled plate is $1.20 per pound, up from $1.19 previously; 316 and 316L coiled plate rose to $1.61 per pound from $1.60; Type 304 cold-rolled sheet is $1.24 per pound, up from $1.23; and Type 316L cold-rolled sheet increased to $1.64 per pound from $1.63.....
