Demand, nickel drive stainless price hike

NEW YORK Three of the four major North American stainless steel producers have raised prices on the back of robust demand and rejuvenated nickel prices.
Only ATI Allegheny Ludlum Corp., a subsidiary of Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Technologies Inc., has yet to announce price changes.
North American Stainless Inc. (NAS), Ghent, Ky., has hiked prices effective April 1 for all 200-, 300- and 430-series cold-rolled grades via a 2-percentage-point discount reduction, the producer announced March 13. NAS said it also was raising prices for automotive grades.....
