Demand, nickel drive stainless price hike

NEW YORK — Three of the four major North American stainless steel producers have raised prices on the back of robust demand and rejuvenated nickel prices.

Only ATI Allegheny Ludlum Corp., a subsidiary of Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Technologies Inc., has yet to announce price changes.

North American Stainless Inc. (NAS), Ghent, Ky., has hiked prices effective April 1 for all 200-, 300- and 430-series cold-rolled grades via a 2-percentage-point discount reduction, the producer announced March 13. NAS said it also was raising prices for automotive grades.....
