Aluminum alloy producers flummoxed by market

NEW YORK Secondary aluminum alloy prices held steady March 17, with buyers and sellers on the fence about the overall direction of the market.
There are several reasons for the confusion, including a recent reduction in scrap purchasing by Chinese consumerswhich could lead to a marked uptick in the supply of domestic scrapand continued issues with trucking across much of the country, which has supported alloy prices over the past month.
A clearer direction for alloy prices will begin to emerge as these issues develop or are potentially resolved, sources told AMM.....
