NEW YORK Three more steelmakers have followed a flat-rolled steel product price increase.
Nucor Corp. has increased minimum base prices on its steel sheet products effective immediately, it said in a March 19 letter to customers. The Charlotte, N.C.-based steel producer set prices on hot-rolled coil at $33 per hundredweight ($660 per ton), while cold-rolled coil and galvanized sheet were increased to $39.50 per cwt ($790 per ton).
Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) has also increased hot-rolled base prices to $33 per cwt ($660 per ton), several of its customers told AMM. The Fort Wayne, Ind.-based company couldnt immediately be reached for comment.
Fontana, Calif.-based California Steel Industries Inc. (CSI) has increased transaction prices on hot-rolled, pickled and oiled, cold-rolled and galvanized sheet by a minimum of $2 per cwt ($40 per ton), according to a March 19 letter to customers.
The increases follow a move by Chicago-based ArcelorMittal USA LLC, with several other mills east of the Rockies also following suit (amm.com, March 17).
