AK Steel applauds ruling on NOES shipments

NEW YORK — AK Steel Corp. is “pleased” with the U.S. Commerce Department’s decision to issue preliminary subsidy rates on imports of non-oriented electrical steel (NOES) from China and Taiwan and is “hopeful” that further investigation will find “significant subsidies” for South Korean material.

Commerce’s International Trade Administration (ITA) calculated a preliminary subsidy rate of 125.83 percent on imports from China, an “adverse facts available” rate of 12.82 percent on Taiwan’s Leicong Industrial Co. Ltd. and a rate of 6.41 percent on all other imports from Taiwan (amm.com, March 19).....
