Exporters raise scrap prices to India

NEW YORK — Containerized ferrous scrap export prices to India inched up this past week as demand thinned and buyers worked to hold off suppliers pushing for higher tags.

Market participants said transacted volumes for the week of March 17 through March 21 were nominal as buying activity cooled following a few weeks of reinvigorated trading.

However, increases in bulk export prices to Turkey coupled with rising domestic market sentiment resulted in exporters raising offer prices to India to a range of $390 to $400 per tonne for U.S.-origin shredded scrap delivered to the Nhava Sheva port in Mumbai, India.....
