Midwest aluminum premiums slide

CHICAGO Midwest aluminum premiums have continued to fall, but some sellers cautioned that buyers might have become too complacent about the downward trend remaining in place.
AMMs spot P1020 premium dipped to 18.15 to 18.5 cents per pound March 21 from 18.75 cents previously.
The drop came as market sources remained optimistic about the economy despite reporting a slight slowdown in business activity.
Consumers might have purchased more metal than usual when premiums spiked early in the year amid fears of further gains in premiums, and could now be chewing through those inventories rather than buying new material, some market sources said.....
