First Nickel’s net loss widens despite increased revenue

NEW YORK First Nickel Inc. (FNI) fell deeper into the red last year despite stronger revenue and a 46.6-percent increase in nickel output at its Lockerby Mine in Ontario.
However, the Toronto-based company said it anticipates improved production and returns in 2014.
FNI president and chief executive officer Thomas Boehlert said in a statement that 2013 was a difficult year for nickel mining companies and for the entire junior mining sector.
