Worthington’s net income jumps 9.4%

NEW YORK — Worthington Industries Inc.’s net income jumped 9.4 percent in its fiscal third quarter due in part to strong end markets despite severe winter weather that subdued much of its business, its top executive said.

“We had a strong quarter, the best (fiscal) third-quarter earnings per share in our history, with solid earnings growth despite enduring extreme weather conditions, which hampered some of our business activity,” chairman and chief executive officer John P. McConnell said in a statement accompanying the company’s earnings report March 27.....
