Turkish election results seen as boon for scrap

BARCELONA, Spain — Ferrous scrap trading in Turkey is expected to get a boost following the results of bitterly fought elections that brought a temporary halt to protest activity.

The Justice and Development Party’s (AKP’s) March 30 win is being viewed by many as a positive for the steel and scrap industries, with infrastructure spending now expected to kick off in the country.

Founded and headed by Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the AKP came under intense scrutiny over the past few months as citizens rallied against Erdoğan and his party on allegations of corruption and authoritarianism.....
