PITTSBURGH — A metal recycler has been convicted of failing to report the presence of contaminants at a Massachusetts scrapyard that were uncovered by a potential buyer.

Paul Lukashuk of Paragould, Ark., who operated Luke’s Refining & Smelting Inc. in Leominster and Sterling, Mass., was sentenced to 18 months in jail, suspended for a probationary period of five years, following a three-day jury trial at Worcester Superior Court,....
