West Coast steel plate prices remain at peak

LOS ANGELES Long lead times and strong energy-related demand are helping to keep the West Coast steel plate market firm, even though prices appear to have peaked for the time being.
"Weve pretty much settled at a plateau," one market source said, noting that demand remains healthy but many buyers have successfully filled their inventory holes that developed late last year, and they arent playing "catch-up" anymore.
Delivered prices on warehouse grades and sizes from domestic mills are reported at $43.50 to $45.50 per hundredweight ($870 to $910 per ton), depending on the size of the order and the local market.....
