Pollution control impact on China steel seen limited

SHANGHAI — The latest temporary pollution control measures imposed on mills in north China are unlikely to have a major impact on the steel market, participants told AMM sister publication Steel First.

A number of steel mills in Tangshan, in northeast China’s Hebei province, have been ordered to suspend furnace operations during daylight hours, sources said April 2.

Officials from the Tangshan Bureau of Environmental Protection visited mills this week to monitor operations with a view to curbing pollution, sources said.....
