Calif. arrests 6 in UBC redemption schemes

NEW YORK Six people have been arrested for allegedly bilking the state of California out of approximately $425,000 through used beverage container (UBC) redemption schemes.
They were accused of transporting empty cans and bottles from Washington state and illegally redeeming them in California, according to the California Department of Justice. Californias UBC program offers 5 cents for small containers and 10 cents for larger ones, but containers bought out of....
