Novelis exits household foil market on import pressure

CHICAGO — Novelis Inc. plans to exit the household foil business because of import pressure, largely from China, a company spokeswoman said.

The move will see 11 employees lose their jobs at Novelis’ plant in Terre Haute, Ind., effective April 13, she added.

"The decision behind that is really the imports we are facing now, and it’s really not a competitive market anymore," she told AMM April 9. "China ... that’s definitely the highest number (of imported material)."....
