Silicones producer MPM seeks Chapter 11

NEW YORK Momentive Performance Materials Worldwide Inc. (MPM) has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York.
The Albany, N.Y.-based manufacturer of silicones and products derived from quartz and specialty ceramics listed unsecured claims in excess of $2.6 billion, according to court documents filed April 13, including more than $3.6 million owed to Beverly, Ohio-based chemical-grade silicon....
