NEW YORK — Momentive Performance Materials Worldwide Inc. (MPM) has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York.

The Albany, N.Y.-based manufacturer of silicones and products derived from quartz and specialty ceramics listed unsecured claims in excess of $2.6 billion, according to court documents filed April 13, including more than $3.6 million owed to Beverly, Ohio-based chemical-grade silicon....
