Ice curbs Essar Algoma iron ore shipments

CHICAGO Iron ore shipments to Essar Steel Algoma Inc. have been delayed by ice on Lake Superior, a company spokeswoman told AMM.
"The spring thaw continues to elude us," she said in an e-mail April 16. "Unfortunately, ice conditions on Lake Superior continue to critically delay iron ore shipments."
The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, sheet and plate maker continues to produce, although output has been "adjusted as required," the spokeswoman said.....
