NEW YORK Stainless steel prices could be in line for further gains, distributor sources said, as others expressed confidence that producer increases announced for May could hold even if North American Stainless Inc. (NAS) fails to jump on board.
Of the four major domestic stainless mills, threeAK Steel Corp., West Chester, Ohio; Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI), Pittsburgh; and Outokumpu Stainless USA LLC, Calvert, Ala.appear to have backed the price hikes, spurred by continuously strengthening nickel prices and impressive demand that has extended lead times.....
