EMR takeover of Sims site divides market

NEW YORK A change in operational control of a deep-sea facility shipping ferrous scrap out of New Haven, Conn., has divided market opinion on what it means for the companies involved and the region.
Eastern Metal Recycling Terminals LLC, a subsidiary of U.K. recycler European Metal Recycling Ltd. (EMR), has taken over the lease of a New Haven facility previously operated by New York-based Sims Metal Management Ltd. (amm.com, April 15).
Details of the winning bid for the lease are still unclear.
Sims didnt respond to a request for comment, while a spokesman for EMR only confirmed the development and said the company had opened for business at New Haven April 14.....
