Increased mill demand fails to lift copper scrap

NEW YORK — Copper scrap prices were mostly flat this past week despite increased demand from brass mills and a backwardation in terminal markets.

While lower discounts for some copper scrap grades worked to lift the market, a 0.4-percent decline in the May-delivery Comex copper price—to $3.0255 per pound April 16 from $3.037 per pound April 9—counteracted that to keep the secondary market on steady....
